Sadly I have several friends who are self-confessed agnostics. I visited with one recently and we had a conversation about it. I’ve been looking at homes in the Florida Keys and told him I was not going to buy there until I sold my other home in Jupiter. He wanted me to buy right away, stating that there are no guarantees that I will even be alive tomorrow and time’s “a-wasting.”

I replied that I wasn’t worried about dying before I moved into the home that we’ve found down there, even though we really like it. I asked him if he was familiar with what the Bible stated about Jesus going to prepare a place for us. I went on to say that the mansion Jesus is preparing for me (and all His children) would make the finest mansion on this planet made with mere human hands seem like a cardboard box located at the city dump. I mean just take a look around at what He has created . . .

He told me he wished he had faith like that. I said that it was easy enough to have it; he just needed to surrender. He sighed heavily and I knew what he was thinking because we have had many conversations on this subject. He just cannot bring himself to believe.

It is a given that at some point we will all invariably die. So the most important question that we all face is: What happens to me when I die? Many non-believers will stammer around a little when asked that question and then indicate that they have been fairly good in their life and they think that if there is a God, He will be kind to them based on their “goodness” and He will allow them into heaven.  My response is always: What do you base your logic upon? Is it some hunch? Is it something your parents told you? Did you see it on CNN? Did you have a revelation from “Mother Earth?”

I base my belief system entirely upon the Bible. I’ve read it many times and I have studied it daily for nearly 50 years. I started out in life as an atheist, then agnostic, then a Satanist, and finally after reading the Bible all of the way through myself I surrendered to God.

I was not afraid to die before I became a Christian and fear was not my motivating factor to ask Jesus to take over my life.

It was love.

One thing sure that Bible study will reveal is the love of Jesus for all of humanity. Most atheist/agnostics try to explain God from a human perspective and try to portray Him as being mean. In actuality He is just the opposite. They cannot understand the concept of God being so far advanced above their own intellect. Even rather simple concepts such as God’s Spirit being everywhere at once is questioned and yet they readily accept that microwaves emitting from cell towers, radio signals, radar, television signals cannot be seen and yet undoubtedly exist everywhere. Some want to shake their fist at God for some injustice they perceive and yet their intellect is so limited that they cannot even begin to understand how God created the universe or even gave life to an amoeba. How can anyone understand the mind of God and His plan for our lives?

In our sinful world lawlessness seems to be taking root in most major cities. I read just yesterday where the looters that just destroyed Chicago’s premiere shopping area, the magnificent mile, stated that they were entitled to do so as partial reparations for slavery. They ignore the law of the land because they don’t care for it. It was amazing to me that Joe Biden said he would not choose a running mate that was not a black female. What happened to choosing leadership based on finding the most qualified person with enough ability to lead the most powerful country in the world? If it turns out to be a black female, or Asian, or Hispanic who would care?

The Bible states that we should not be lawless, and we should choose righteous honest people to lead. God gave us laws to abide by and if we did, it would be a wonderful world in which to live. But humankind prefers to go its own way and sin is destroying this beautiful blue planet.

God’s word does not change due to a trending Twitter feed nor is it based upon the everchanging mores of the various societies that have existed throughout the eons. Those who worshipped Baal in biblical times murdered their children just as Planned Parenthood murders them today. God said it is wrong, but humankind defies God. Jesus has indicated in the Bible how to lead a righteous life and realizing that we are weak and could not live up to His Holy Laws written in the Bible, He sent His Son Jesus to pay the price for our sins. That is love!

My friend can find all the comfort and assurance of the wonderful everlasting peaceful joyous life he desires and needs in the Bible and finding a relationship with God. And if someone were to ask him the most important question in life he will ever face, “What do you think will happen to you when you die?” He could confidently say, “Why, I would instantly be in the presence of Jesus and will live with Him forever.”

So my dear friends Jesus stands at the door of your heart and awaits your invitation for Him to come in and give you bountiful blessings. Why more don’t take advantage of God’s free gift to humankind is a mystery to me. Perhaps they just haven’t taken the time to think it through.

John 14:23

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make Our home with him.”
