Early in his career, famous evangelist Billy Graham was actively encouraged by a humanist scientist to keep an open mind about other possibilities to his faith and actively investigate scientific alternatives to the Bible. This guy told Reverend Graham, “After all, there are many difficult questions that go unanswered in the Bible.”

Ugh! I hate that argument. John, stated in 21:25: Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. His ministry only lasted three years and if the whole world could not contain the things Jesus did in three years, could the entire universe contain all the books that would be necessary to be written to answer every question that we might have about God? How much time would it require to read them?

The Bible gives us all the information that we need to get through this life. All we need to do is accept it through faith.

After much prayer, Reverend Graham decided to do just that, rely on his faith and simply not worry about finding a scientific answer that seems reasonable and logical from a humanist point of view for every tough situation or question. Basically, he put his trust in God and steadfastly maintained unswerving faith throughout the remainder of his life.

The Bible teaches us to put our complete trust in God and accept the Bible by faith as the uncompromising truth. Even though he did not have a clue as to why God asked him
to do it, Abraham was fully prepared to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac. This was,
to my knowledge, the best example in the Bible of God’s desire for us to have complete faith in Him.

Of course, God stopped him from going through with it and Abraham was greatly rewarded for his demonstration of unswerving faith. I believe God put this example in the Bible to demonstrate how He feels about faith and to show us what we will reap if we demonstrate faith when we are tested.

Since the dawn of creation humankind has been faced with the question of faith and whether we will fail or remain strong?

Satan is the author of confusion and does whatever he can to prevent us from having faith. Jesus warned us that Satan is a liar and to beware that we, “be not deceived by him”. If he cannot have us outright, Satan wants us at the very least to doubt and flounder in our walk with God.

Most everyone will experience some form of doubt in life. We should recognize that its origin comes from Satan and his horde of fallen angels. It is at those times that we should turn to God in prayer. I for one, no longer doubt the Bible or God’s existence. If there is something that I do not understand, I simply chalk it up to one of two things. I have not prayed about it enough, or it is not meant for me to understand at this time. If after prayer, I still do not understand, I click the “next” button in my mind and move on.

Psalm 71:1
In thee O Lord, do I put my trust;
let me never be put to confusion.
