Recently I recognized that the leader of the Jesus Alliance prayer intervention team needed prayer and I volunteered to pray for her and did. She told me that it felt strange for the “shoe to be on the other foot”. Normally she prays for others and suddenly someone is volunteering to pray for her. I was happy to provide the shoe for her other foot.
I got to see how that feels over the weekend as a friend of mine, Terry Beatley, who has written a book “What if we’ve been wrong?” told me about a Facebook campaign she is beginning to sell her book. She had given me a pre-publication copy quite a while ago and it is a stunning account of how an abortionist, who not only performed countless abortions, did more to promote abortion than perhaps any person on the planet to include convincing the Supreme Court it was the right thing to do.
Late in life the terminally ill cofounder of America’s abortion industry gave Terry his personal parting message to end the exploitation of women and children and expose a racist population-control plan by revealing a deadly political maneuver called the Catholic Strategy in order to save paternal rights. He did repent of the evil that he was engaged in, and turned to God, but was mentally tormented the rest of his days on this planet until his death, with tremendous regret and sorrow over what he’d done. Terry met him in his Manhatten apartment while he was terminally ill and promised him she would expose it and she has done so with this book.
After listening to her plan to promote the book, I asked her how I could help. She told me, “You don’t understand Bob, I don’t need any help, I want to help YOU. People come to you every day asking for money or whatever, I want to be a blessing to you and the Jesus Alliance and nothing more.”
Huh?
She continued, the book is going to be promoted to some 60 million Christians and I’m going to donate a healthy percentage of whatever books are sold to the Jesus Alliance’s Stop Child Rape effort.
She told me that God had directed her to do something to help thwart the growing epidemic of sex trafficking and in particular child rape and torture. I’d briefed her on the Jesus Alliance’s efforts and strategic plan to go after the perpetrators in an all out effort to end this evil. If her Facebook effort is successful, it will provide badly needed funding to accomplish our goals much quicker.
So the “shoe is on the other foot” for me, and actually it feels great. I pray that the Lord offers her good success with the sale of her book, but even if it does not do well, I’m deeply moved that she wants to bless us.
Ironically the Lord put ending child rape by eliminating the demand of perpetrators for sex with children on my heart, and I was trying to focus 100% on it, but recently I got invited to go to the Whitehouse and capitol hill to join others in fighting abortion. God wouldn’t have wanted me there if He didn’t want me in this battle too. He put both preborn children and children that have already arrived on my heart. Terry told me that is exactly what happened to her except in reverse. Make no mistake God loves children still in the womb and outside the womb.
Now just imagine writing a book and receiving money and instead of calculating how many cars, jewels, vacations, swimming pools, and houses you can buy with all that cash, to how you can be a blessing to a ministry struggling to fight evil.
Interesting concept eh?
Interesting but not new. It is an age old struggle to resist the material things of the world and focus on the things of God and His will for you.
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
