When I was young, I called myself an atheist. Oddly, what changed my mind and convinced me that a spiritual world existed was witchcraft, (not Christianity). I did not seek witchcraft; it sought me! I knew no one who was involved with it and didn’t know the first thing about it.
It all began back in my pre-Christian days when I was living in New Orleans on Royal Street in the very heart of the French Quarter. Late one night I was walking through the dark tunnel-like entrance to the street from the courtyard where my apartment was located when suddenly something caused me to stop. I was standing there in the total darkness looking around and wondering what was going on and felt compelled to glance down. I saw several boxes containing books that someone was throwing out. A powerful urge came upon me to reach down and pick up the top book.
I walked back into the courtyard to examine it and through the dim light I saw that the book that I’d picked up was a satanic bible. I immediately returned to my room and began to read it. It was filled with spells, curses and hexes of every description. It was mesmerizing and I couldn’t put it down.
During the next days, weeks, and months I experimented with many different incantations, curses, and spells and to my utter disbelief and surprise all of them worked. The most dramatic was a spell I cast on a couple that had recently moved to the French Quarter. The girl, Sandy, was beautiful and I wanted to date her, but she had a boyfriend. I was a bartender at a dingy bar called Bonaparte’s Inn and they came in there often. I decided to cast a love spell on her and one night I gave them a piece of cardboard that looked like parchment upon which I had carefully drawn two circles that were filled with symbols straight out of the satanic bible. I told them it was a good luck charm and would benefit them greatly. They were very appreciative and thanked me.
Ugh . . .
That night before going to bed they hung it on the wall and lit a black candle, beneath it and chanted the words I had given them exactly as I told them to do. While they slept the candle somehow started a fire and they very narrowly escaped with their lives as the apartment burned completely to the ground. The guy was so scared he left for Texas that day and Sandy moved in with me.
This was when I understood that there most definitely is a spiritual world, an unseen dimension that can be felt but not seen just like the undertow in the ocean. Witchcraft worked! You can’t see it, but you sure can feel the pull. This experience intensified my quest to exert power over others and I had many other equally mind bending experiences with witchcraft and my power and fame as a warlock increased.
I might note too that prior to getting involved with it, I had never met one person in my life who’d ever mentioned witchcraft and afterwards practically everyone I met was into it. It seemed as if I had become a human magnet for those who were involved with the occult. I was not seeking them out, but they were seeking me out every day.
It all came to an end one night when I summoned, (conjured) up a demon and the experience scared me so badly I thought I would shake to death. I still shudder just to think about it. I abandoned witchcraft forever and have stayed far away from it from that moment through today.
Though many deny it, nonetheless, it is as real as God and his angelic host. There is a powerful force of evil in the world and there is our all-powerful God who is good. The Bible warns us to stay away from the occult and warns of its power over us. On Saturday, the Satanic Temple of Los Angeles held their biggest event ever: a massive satanic mass, complete with a live bloodletting ritual. The purpose of the mass, according to the Satanic Temple’s website, was “to inspire personal and societal liberation.” The event, which was held in partnership with Das Bunker, doubled as a fundraiser for a number of causes including the women’s reproductive rights campaign, lawsuits concerning violations of the First Amendment, and providing education and assistance to individuals incarcerated in our for-profit prison system. Once attendees made it past the massive line to get in, there was live painting, and first-come-first-serve tattooing.
The event was essentially a goth/industrial show, with many attendees dressed in costume. There was a mosh pit and crowd surfing. There was a demonic cat lecture by Paul Koudounaris, and a destruction ritual, along with an invocation ritual. The invocation included a statement of principals of the Satanic Temple (aka the Seven Tenets), including a call to question everything and standing up to racial and gender inequality, and ending with chants of “Hail Satan.” Coven of Ashes performed a bloodletting ritual, and the bands Lumerians, Author + Punisher, and 3Teeth performed.
If you see your kids, grandkids, or anyone exhibiting hand signals, wearing pentagrams, images of Baphomet or similar behavior, you should know what it means. Pray for them – counsel them. God has warned about this behavior and where it will lead. I consider myself extremely blessed to have escaped and found Jesus.
Today, many people dabble in the mystical, occultic arts. The Bible takes a clear position on this subject, strongly denouncing these practices including astrology. God’s Word indicates that these practices are part of Satan’s strategy of evil deception, designed to lead us astray.
We must understand that Satan and his demons are real beings, they are intelligent, and most importantly set on our destruction. Over and over, God denounces those who “conjure spells” and those who practice witchcraft and sorcery.
The Bible says that these practices are anti-God and are in rebellion against Him and anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. God warns of the ultimate punishment. Listen to the Spirit!
