So yesterday as expected several readers got angry because I made a common sense appeal to Christians to vote regardless of whether or not Trump gets nominated or not . . . A couple unsubscribed and have moved on. I feel sure that this election will be no different, in that untold millions of like-minded individuals will simply not vote if their candidate doesn’t get nominated.
According to United in Purpose, (the leading Christian voter mobilization movement in the Untied States) and George Barna, 39 million people who describe themselves as Evangelical Christians did not vote in the last presidential election. In essence we lost a presidential election because they did so.
Many decided not to vote because Mitt Romney is a Mormon and did not represent their Christian values. As for me I don’t believe in Mormonism at all, but I spent time and my own money going on his election tour bus with Governor Mike Huckabee trying to get the Christian coalition in Florida to vote for him as a better alternative than Obama.
Well enough “evangelicals” remained stubborn and steadfast and stayed home and we lost the race in Florida by 78,000 votes or thereabouts. This was another nail in the coffin towards assuring four more years of Barrack Hussein Obama and his anti-Christ agenda noose tightening around the neck of the church.
Does anyone really think Romney wouldn’t have been a better choice? What a heavy price to pay.
Yesterday I had a conference call with some Christian leaders in Cleveland Ohio (home of this year’s Republican political convention), where I will be speaking at a prayer breakfast next week. They were excited and already have some 1000 plus people signed up. They have been praying and working like crazy to make it a huge success for the Lord. I have spoken thousands of times and yet I never grow weary because I envision souls coming to receive Jesus and come closer to having an endearing relationship with Him; I’m excited too!
They called in part to let me know that believers of all faiths, and of course many pre-believers will be in attendance. When going over details of my talk they asked me not to favor any particular denominations because they were promoting unity. I found that to be amusing, because I would never do that in a million years. I believe in unity in the body of Christ and that does not mean uniformity. In other words Jesus died for ALL of our sins, and we ALL need redemption. We have 43,000 denominations in the world now that all think their way is THE way, but it started out with ONE church with Jesus Christ as its head. Flesh has perverted God’s structure for the church with legalism and rules; however God has not changed one iota and Scripture verifies it.
I find it ironic that so many Christians desire to come together as “one” in the same city that in just a few months a contentious divisive convention will surely erupt in vicious acrimony with angry conservative Christians.
We can win the election this year. God has stated that nothing is impossible if we come together. Yes we can even fulfill the Great Commission and begin to usher in the return of Jesus Christ in our lifetimes, provided we put aside our disagreements and work together.
We will not get everything we want in one election cycle, but we can make some progress. Or we can remain divided and lose yet another election and suffer. (There is no question what Hillary’s agenda will entail; just listen to the promises being made.)
Believers should be one church serving Jesus; we are His bride – All of us! So unsubscribe if you wish. My pay remains the same as it has for the past 17 years that I’ve written this column five days per week – zero. I listen to the Holy Spirit as best I know how and speak His truth as I understand His word. I am not overly discouraged by those who disagree.
Why even Christ was put to death by well-meaning legalistic religious leaders who tried to follow every jot and tittle of the law and thought they were doing their God a favor by getting rid of a rebel who wouldn’t condemn sinners and instead would spend time eating and drinking with them, defending prostitutes, and praying for them. Jesus just wanted to see lost souls saved through His testimony as presented by His church. That is all I want too. Have a great day!
