The Jesus Alliance finished its operational kickoff meeting in Dallas Texas Monday and it was a remarkable meeting. Top leaders from every sphere of influence attended, including movie producers, media experts, business people, family advocates, faith-based legal representatives, politicians, prayer warriors, pastors, education gurus, scientists, marketing experts, celebrities, philanthropists, ministry leaders of every flavor, etc.
We all assembled to discuss how the Jesus Alliance is going to launch a counter offensive to quell the momentum gained by those who wish to destroy the church (the body of believers who love Jesus Christ), along with everything holy. We identified those who are behind the attack. A Harvard graduate who is researching it discussed their strategy and how they are funding it. We outlined our strategy to counter it program by program.
As I looked around the room I thought of the prayer made by Christ in John 17:21 in which He prayed for His church to be united in the same way He and the Father are united as One. My thoughts were that He must be very proud because this is what the church is supposed to look like. People of every nationality, gender, profession, and gifting all coming together for one reason: Jesus Christ.
Unity is not uniformity; in fact it is just the opposite. It is utilizing God given diversity to collaborate. God created us in this manner in order to fulfill His purpose. Think about it! No two people are identical. Isn’t that amazing? It’s not happenstance, it’s ingenious actually, because if we were all eyes, everyone could see really well, but that is all we could do. The body couldn’t function like that. Likewise the body of Christ cannot be composed of single faceted people or our ability to get anything done would be impossible. I think in part that is one reason God referred to His church as the body of Christ. By working together with Spirit led people, we can have an ongoing basis: intercessory prayer, business experts planning and running operations in a professional manner, marketing people marketing, Bible experts, writers and teachers developing Gospel driven relevant messages, arts and entertainment and media professionals broadcasting, computer gurus sending our message of Christ’s love all over the world, givers funding projects, pastors preaching, and so on.
Believers outnumber non-believers by a huge margin. One must ask why we are losing the battle for the hearts and minds of our populace, (especially young people). It is because so many in our community are too stubborn and single minded to collaborate with those who don’t have IDENTICAL viewpoints as their own. This is entirely contrary to God’s creation plan.
I believe we are going to see unprecedented unity that will lead to global revival and a great awakening as has not be seen in the world for some length of time due to the efforts of the Jesus Alliance. Soon you will begin to see God’s plan unfolding. Please pray that God will bless it and that we are successful in reaching people all over the world for Christ. Most importantly please pray for unity.
