Yesterday I wrote about Trump and was expecting a landslide of opposition, but to my surprise not one person disagreed with what I’d written. Typical of the responses was this letter:
“Well Said! So, Trump schedules a political rally for his supporters and a few thugs try to disrupt it — And, the media blames Trump! Only in America.”
In my mind the media is the single most destructive force in our country. Gone are the days of honest journalism. The only one that I’ve seen on Fox News that treats Trump fairly is Bill O’Reilly; (this since Megyn Kelly attacked Trump at a debate and he fought back in typical Trump full attack mode and called her a “bimbo” with an agenda). The other networks are so liberal and biased that it is sickening and they spin everything in similar fashion to the political rally incident to suit their agenda.
Spin is nothing but a word for LIE. The media is the worst and in my mind is destroying our country with propaganda much like totalitarian countries all over the world. It gets to the point where we never know the truth and most just blandly accept it.
A case in point was the moment that Ben Carson endorsed Trump. I watched the entire news conference which lasted close to an hour. Then I watched the news that evening and it was frightening how various commentators had twisted the truth of what was said at the conference in what can only be a concerted effort to make Trump and Carson look bad; yes even old Brett Bair was in on it.
Politicians come a close second in the spin arena. Ben Carson got a dose of this when he ran. Now he is being attacked for supporting Trump. I’ve had some discussion with Ted Cruz supporters who have asked why I don’t support him. Well he is often disingenuous and is prone to lie. I’ve seen him completely distort Trump’s viewpoints and record time and time again. Every time I see him speak it seems that it is a performance akin to a “B list” actor in a low budget film. He doesn’t come off as sincere to me. I suppose his debating career influences him heavily, but I think politicians just desire to win at all costs.
Aside from the dishonesty question I am concerned that with someone like Cruz we will just have more gridlock only this time in reverse. Obama is prime example of someone who refuses to even acknowledge that the other side that represents half the population might be entitled to a seat at the table. Obama refused to work with his “enemies” on the Republican side to the detriment to our society.
Cruz has few friends in the Senate even on the Republican side much less congress as a whole, because it has to be his way or the highway. While “foaming at the mouth” staunch conservatives applaud this behavior, it does little to solve our countries’ serious problems. I’m a staunch conservative; however I’m also a practical person who would rather get “something” accomplished rather than see our country utterly destroyed.
I’ve met Ted Cruz’s father and sat next to him at a conference. This pastor is a fiery speaker and loves Jesus like I do. I have no doubt that Ted does as well, but running this country at this time with all of its problems will take someone who has actually solved serious problems and not a politician even if he loves Jesus.
I pray that Mr. Trump will have a close encounter with Jesus and I believe that he will. I’m praying for him every day as I am for this country. Someone told me yesterday that they were afraid that God will give us what we deserve, another rotten President. I laughed and told him that Jesus is in the business of not giving us what we deserve; it’s called grace. Without it we would all be in hell.
Grace is about God giving us what we don’t deserve. Pray for it to be granted to this once great country and pray for a great revival to take place whereby God will restore it.
2 Cor. 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
