I remember a fishing trip when we caught a big bunch of Tuna fish. I began cleaning them and Tuna are really quite bloody. I was tossing the bloody carcasses into the ocean off of my dock and soon a horde of fish were attracted to the carcasses and began feeding on them. All of a sudden a huge shark 8-9 feet long came charging in and all of the small fish scattered like quail. It was a big Bull shark and they are actually quite impressive. They are also deadly man-eaters. I watched as the Bull shark shook the carcasses like a bulldog raising sand and silt in a twelve foot circle as it ferociously swam about devouring the bloody Tuna carcasses.
I was reading about sharks the other day and apparently some of them never sleep and they never stop swimming which is apparently the only way for them to get adequate oxygen. Imagine a killing machine that never sleeps that is constantly on the prowl looking for its next victim. Guess what? Sin never sleeps either! Satan and his demonic minions are constantly on the prowl just like a bull shark looking for some hapless victim to devour. The Bible instructs us to be vigilant and alert because our adversary the devil is constantly roaming about looking for victims to devour.
Why does he hate us? I suppose he looks at it as though if he is going to spend eternity in Hell, he might as well take as many of us with him as he can. Or maybe he is just innately bad and intent on destruction and murderous rage. Who knows and who cares? The important thing is to avoid falling into his trap. If sin is enticing you today, know that God provides a way to escape sin at every turn. Take it! And you have nothing to fear. With God at our side we can conquer all and there is no reason to fear. Just use sound judgment and ask Him to be at your side.
Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church or somewhere this weekend.
2 Timothy 7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear,
but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
