I am just now recovering from last weekend. After speaking at the Warrior’s Beach Retreat in Panama City late Thursday night, I drove home, packed my clothes, showered, changed clothes and headed to the airport to catch an early morning flight to Portland Oregon. I could not sleep on the plane and ended up staying up some 34 hours straight.
When I got to my hotel in Portland I finally slept for about three hours and then went to dinner with my oldest son and his family who reside there. I was all messed up by the time change and taking a nap, and could only muster an hour or two more of fitful sleep that night. After laying there for hours thinking and praying I finally just got up and worked on catching up with a ton of e-mail. The next morning I met all day with some folks who have an end sex trafficking ministry, (the purpose of my trip), and then went to dinner with them.
I got up early and prayed with them for several hours and then my son picked me up and took me to the airport and I returned home arriving a little after midnight. I was thoroughly exhausted. As an FYI, on top of everything else I was having side effects of fatigue and headaches with the chemo treatments I’m taking at the moment.
So my wife has not fully recovered from her health struggles and I didn’t want to leave her, the schedule was a killer, and my own health was the pits, so why would I go? Because I felt the Lord was telling me to go. The Jesus Alliance is launching a major offensive against sex trafficking and these people are players in that arena in the Middle East and I needed to meet in person with them. There was only a short window of opportunity to meet while they all happened to be in the USA and I took it.
I don’t know how much effort you put in to accomplishing what God has stirred you to do in life, but I urge you to give it your all. As a 68 year old man I’m fighting satan with all of the energy that I can muster. Just imagine what you could do . . .
Jesus is telling all of us to “GO!” Will your answer be “NO!”?
We are all needed in this fight. Find a cause for Jesus and give it everything you have while there is yet time. Run the race to win!
1 Cor. 9:24
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!
