It’s always interesting to me to view current events in relation to biblical prophecy. Recently I read where Israel may be the first country to go cashless. This is something that is predicted to happen in the end times in conjunction with the “Mark of the Beast”, (666) prophecy. Those hapless stalwarts that refuse to pledge allegiance to the antichrist and bear the Mark will not be allowed to work and/or buy provisions.
Israel’s interest in going cashless is to eliminate tax cheats; those folks in their society that operate strictly on a cash only basis and never accurately report their income and/or pay taxes on it. Israel’s cashless society would track purchases through credit card transactions and electronically compare them to income, thereby making it very difficult to cheat or commit fraud.
One problem cited is that those who use the underground cash economy would just switch to other currencies around the world. Alas it will be a short lived concern, because the Bible has long foretold that in the end of times, “all” financial transactions will be on a global basis and will be controlled by what it calls the “Mark of the Beast”. So it’s no surprise that we now begin to see the early formation of what will amount to one nation after another getting rid of cash as currency, and replacing it with a worldwide, computer-controlled financial system.
Another thing that has caught my eye is that Vladimir Putin who has remained relatively quiet over the years has now started aggressively positioning himself as an increasingly influential force on the global stage, particularly in the Middle East.
Could this be a precursor to the Gog/Magog prophecy in the Bible? Some are asking if Putin’s moves are leading us rapidly to the fulfillment of Bible prophecies, such as those found in Ezekiel chapters 38 & 39. Bible scholars call it the coming “War of Gog & Magog”, which amounts to a Russian dictator, “Gog”, forming an alliance with Iran and other Middle Eastern and North African countries to attack Israel in the “last days” of history before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
While I say it’s too early to make that prediction, Putin certainly is demonstrating some signs of being like the Gog described in prophecy.
Lately I’ve been musing about feeling the distinct presence of evil in different areas of the country. Just as I can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit when I enter Honey Lake Church, I can feel the presence of evil when I visit certain places. One in particular is death row. When I go into that dark place to minister to prisoners I can feel evil, (and so can the condemned prisoners who live there).
I’ve also noted this phenomenon when visiting cities that are so evil that I believe them to be nothing more than satanic strongholds and modern day Sodom and Gomorrah’s. I can feel the presence of evil as soon as I fly into one of them and land. San Francisco and Las Vegas are two such cities. San Francisco is perhaps the homosexual capital of the world and its Bohemian, “anything goes”, lifestyle ignores any vestige of morality. Las Vegas is known as the city that never sleeps and proudly calls itself “Sin City” and its slogan: “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”.
Geez isn’t San Francisco where Nancy Pelosi calls home, and Las Vegas where Harry Reid calls home? The irony in that is kind of scary-weird – huh?
Yesterday I met with some brilliant technology platform gurus and we discussed ways for our Worldwide Ministry to push the word of God out to the entire world. Our goal is to build technology platforms that can meet the needs of the growing spiritual hunger that is spreading through every nation on earth. In conducting my research for this meeting I’ve learned that there are now 6.1 billion cell phone subscriptions on earth and 2.4 billion who have access to the worldwide web. With 91% of our world population living within range of cell towers it seems to be an increasingly achievable goal to preach the Gospel to every nation as Jesus commanded.
This is the internet moment in human history.
It’s fascinating to me that satan is also using technology to achieve his goals. He is doing things on the Internet like spreading pornography, providing “how-to” manuals to terrorists to make bombs, and other demonic goals, but a far more sinister option will be to use technology to maintain control of the population. It will force them to worship the antichrist. Most likely he will use a computer chip embedded in our skin that will identify each individual with the Mark of the Beast indicating that person has pledged allegiance to him. Without it we will not be capable of buying, selling, or working.
Similar to the debate about guns not being the evil but the person pulling the trigger, technology can be used for good or evil purposes too.
Good or evil is in our hearts and inanimate objects such as guns and technology tools are just mindless objects. We need to make use of the resources including the Internet that God has given us in these last days for good. Make no mistake satan is using them for evil.
No one knows the exact moment when Christ will return, but Jesus said we would recognize that it’s drawing nigh by the signs of the times. Open your eyes and look because the signs of the times are all around us. Check out this verse and ask yourself if it sounds more and more like our current society . . .
2 Timothy 3:1
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
