I often write about people experiencing hard times in life. Today I’m writing about someone who has it all together; great spiritual walk, tremendous loving family, excellent financial standing, enjoyable fascinating career, friends galore, terrific health, young – Man the good times are rolling.
Wow, is this bird living every person’s dream or what. Aren’t you just a little jealous?
I saw a young guy crossing the street today and he looked – well – young, and handsome to boot. I thought, dang I’d love to be that young again. It really made me jealous to see him in his youth looking all fit, wrinkle free, and ready to stomp the world.
Well I can sit around lamenting my wrinkles and gray hair or laugh it off and keep on trucking. That is what I intend to do.
I’ve found in life that someone is always just a little richer, better looking, smarter, a better dancer, more athletic, articulate, refined, popular or whatever. I’m an artist but no Picasso; I can play some guitar, but am no Stevie Ray Vaughn; I can shoot pool, but am no Minnesota Fats; crap now that I think about it I don’t excel at anything.
Why is it that someone else always wins the lottery, gets the pretty girls, drives the fast cars, never gets sick, and avoids stepping in dog poop? It’s enough to drive one batty.
I read where Eric Clapton was so disappointed with his mega hit album “Unplugged”, that he didn’t want to release it and “embarrass himself”.
Huh? That album was sheer genius. I guess it happens even to the great ones huh?
He finally was convinced to allow a few hundred thousand copies to be released as a test and the rest was history with millions upon millions in sales.
Hmmm . . . Could it be that we just don’t see nor appreciate ourselves for who we really are? God has created us just the way He wants us and if he’s happy, I’m happy. How about you?
Someone has said that God loves us just the way we are, but He refuses to leave us that way . . . that’s cool too . . . You see it isn’t really about us but about Him.
Ezekiel 16:13 says:
You were very beautiful and became a queen. Then you became famous among the nations, because you were so beautiful. Your beauty was perfect, because of the glory I gave you, says the Lord God.
This Bible verse tells us that our beauty is made perfect by God’s glory, His character in us and His opinion of us, that is true beauty, not someone else’s opinion or our own. Selah . . .
1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.
