Sweet success! Those are two words that I love to experience and yesterday I was fortunate enough to do just that, as we began shipping my book, Miracle on Luckie Street, to every prison library in the great state of Florida. It will soon be read by thousands of desperate men, many of whom have lost all hope. I pray that as a result, many of them will come to know Jesus and therein find their hope, surrender, and enjoy peace with God and mankind.
That’s not all the good news either; yesterday I also spoke to a buddy of mine who is a former Georgia state Senator who is helping to get it into all of the prisons in the state of Georgia, and he told me that we are within a few days of achieving that goal too. We hope to then use our success in these two states as a springboard to launch our nationwide effort to get the book into all of the prison libraries in the entire United States, and I trust the Lord that He will bless that effort as well.
Whew! Won’t it be grand when we can say mission accomplished and the book has been placed in all of them? At that point my project will have been completed and the Lord will continue to use it as He sees fit for however long, and another tool to reach the unsaved will have been put in place.
Many of you have contributed to the non-profit Williamson Family Foundation, (that is funding the book distribution program in its entirety). Others have worked towards influencing prison directors and politicians to allow us to place the book, and others have worked hard to physically ship the books. You can all be gratified to know that you are now officially sowers of the “Good News” and seeds have been planted and soon there will be a harvest.
I thank you for sharing in this worthwhile effort and I trust the Lord will bless you mightily for your efforts.
Yesterday I was interviewed on a popular CBS radio station in Washington D.C. The host, Dr. Alvin Augustus Jones, routinely interviews some of the top celebrities in the country including movie stars such as Barbara Streisand, professional athletes, and politicians. I was very fortunate to be afforded this platform and allowed to give my testimony of how Jesus Christ transformed my life to his radio audience.
After my interview he asked me to stay on the line for a moment, and then he asked if he could fly down to Honey Lake this weekend to take a look around and meet me. It turns out that he is trying to establish an institute to help young men who have lost all hope and are mired in sin and crime in urban areas. He read my book and wants me to mentor him further on how God transformed my life as well as take a look at how we built the Honey Lake complex in order to learn more about how he can help others who find themselves in similar dire straits.
He told me that he felt that ours was a divine appointment, because he has a master plan of building a mini-Honey Lake style complex in urban areas all over the country beginning with Washington D.C. He intends to use it to give young men a foundation of spiritual values, and then complement it with a host of other things such as providing education, psychological counseling, job training, and health. He not only wants to lead them to the Lord, he wants to help prepare them to get a job and become productive members of society instead of being a bunch of murdering thugs and criminals.
Much of the world is caught in an evil downward spiral that is traveling at breakneck speed towards hell. Many God fearing people have given up all hope and have resigned themselves to our society’s impending destruction.
I urge you to join those of us who see things differently. There is always hope in Jesus Christ. In fact I was asked on another radio interview this week to make what I consider to be the most important point concerning my life. I said that my life demonstrates that we should never give up or lose hope, because God should not and cannot be underestimated. As my nurse Lydia so eloquently stated, “Jesus is God! He can do anything He wants!”
God never gives up on any of us, even though we often give up on ourselves. He has promised that if we will repent and turn from our evil ways and ask for forgiveness, that He will hear from heaven and heal us and our land.
We can and should do so.
Consider this morning what you are doing to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Are you merely going about your job, building a career, caring for your family, and engaging in leisure activities, or are you involved in a project that will help the unsaved find salvation? The Bible asks a rather poignant question, “What good would it do to gain the entire world, if you lose your soul?”
Hmmm… Maybe that portfolio isn’t everything you thought it was…
Focus on eternity; it is forever. This life just averages 77.9 years and more or less that will be the end of those things that cannot be taken into heaven or as the case might be, hell.
