A friend of mine is going to Africa this week on a mission to secure clean fresh drinking water for the people in that land. Their organization hopes to dig 2500 wells in just nine days. Those wells will provide clean water for 500,000 people.

My buddy was telling me how primitive the conditions are there with no electricity, phone service, and of course modern sanitation and running water etc. Complicating the situation the people in this area are plagued with AIDS, malaria, cholera, famine, and the like.

If one the group’s trucks breaks down or has a flat tire, well let me put it this way, there are no service stations, Jiffy Lubes, or repair places to promptly fix it. They must haul in all of their supplies including tons of 110 lb bags of concrete. Gravel for the wells is derived from sending the villagers out to collect rocks which the women tote on their heads back to the village where they are broken into little pieces.

I have highly encouraged my wife to follow their example, but somehow Teresa is not receptive and indeed has spurned my encouragement. Instead she just gives me one of those surly looks that makes me feel as though she thinks I should visit a place that is very, very, very, hot all of the time.

Yikes!

Hard to believe that people live in such conditions today is it not? America has really been blessed by God. I wonder if the people in Africa have missed out because they have not put God first in their lives. Might be something to think about considering the direction our leadership is taking our country: “In God we NO LONGER trust”; “One nation NOT under God”. Instead we are being told to trust in a big government, a leader with a big ego, and a big nanny state, and our not so humble leaders think they know what is best for us, because us little people are too stupid to figure it out on our own

Ahhh but I digress. I do hope you are registered to vote and will do so in November. I honestly believe that if the leadership in this country is not changed soon that it might be too late for this once great country.

The Bible teaches, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. He did not say, “All things with the exception of turning the United States around”, but He did say “I” can do all things. This means WE have to do it and He will strengthen us, (hopefully everyone will use His strength to get off their duffs and vote in this vitally important election in November).

We can become “One nation under God” again, (that is fiscally responsible and not bankrupting our country, ruining the future of our kids and grandkids).

You have the power, now use it

Colossians 2:8
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.”

Micah 6:8
“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
