I have a few acquaintances that are as restless as the sea. It just seems that they cannot find peace for their lives and constantly churn and froth. I never see them smile and it seems that nothing can fill the void in their lives.
Perhaps the restlessness is caused by disinterest of a career. I have repeatedly told our employees that they should really look forward to coming into work every day. If they don’t, then they should look for something else. We should realize that most of our waking hours are spent pursuing our careers, and life is too short not to enjoy our work.
Sometimes it’s trouble on the home front. Thirty nine years of marriage have taught me that both parties have to work at having a successful marriage and often attitude is the difference between success and failure. In short you should really want a successful marriage and be willing to optimistically work at it. Also I have found that my wife is not perfect. It’s easy for me to overlook her faults because I have more faults than she does. Life is full of imperfection and marriage is part of life. Accept your spouses imperfections.
Some people just seem like they’re mad at the world to me. Everything seems to bother them, even the little things in life set them off. I’ve been like that plenty of times too. We just cannot seem to accept life as it is, full of “imperfection”. This adds to restlessness as they work themselves into a frothy rage about every little bump in the road.
I think most often restlessness is caused from a dysfunctional spiritual life. There can be no peace apart from God who is perfection. If you’re restless today, perhaps you should look to the Lord and ask Him for the peace that can only come Him. As the Psalmist wrote, “Rest in the Lord”.

Psalms 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait
patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of him who
prospers in his way,
Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath;
Do not fret – it only causes
harm.
Restless
