Yesterday the President’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel was forced by the media to apologize to the head of the Special Olympics because he referred to those who did not agree with him about the Obama-Care bill as being F—ing retarded at a closed door meeting for Democrats. The media immediately pounced on it and soon the nation was in a tizzy and everyone was calling for his head on a silver platter for making such an insensitive statement about special needs children. A few months earlier Obama himself made fun of his bowling skills on a “Talk Show”, by laughingly saying he bowled so bad that he belonged in the Special Olympics. A similar uproar quickly ensued and he immediately issued an apology too.
Not long ago the majority leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, referred to Obama as a light skinned Negro. This remark greatly offended some folks who now want to be referred to as African Americans, and you guessed it another media firestorm ensued, another apology was immediately issued, and after a few hundred hours of talking heads analyzing it from every possible angle, they moved on in search of their next speech police infraction.
Hmmmm. What to make of all of this Personally I was more offended by the term F—ing than I was retarded, but now that it has been brought to light by those who have special needs children I better understand their point. I don’t like Rahm Emmanuel or his politics, and to be completely candid nor do I like Obama and his big government, free spending, and heavy taxation policies, but I know that neither Emmanuel or Obama was trying to disparage special needs children with their remarks. I mean com’on!
As for the “light skinned Negro comment by Reid, what is up with the furor over that? I see the word “Negro” on government forms all of the time right next to Caucasian. To be honest I didn’t know that the term Negro was now classified as being unacceptable and I don’t think Harry Reid did either. He loves Obama. I wonder of white people should be offended by Caucasian?
Now just yesterday I discovered that “Little People” find the term “midget” offensive. The Redskins are being sued by the “Native Americans” and on and on…Jeez What is next? I didn’t know that midget was offensive to anyone.
I suppose I agree that we should all make an effort not to hurt anyone’s feeling as best we can, but how much of this is legit…. I wonder what God thinks about it. Do you suppose that He is more upset with someone who inadvertently uses a politically incorrect term, or someone who hates that person and their agenda and wants to destroy them using whatever means they can including a slip of the tongue?
I think this nation needs to lighten up a little. How about you? Anyone sick of this speech police stuff other than me? Whatever happened to the first amendment? Don’t these accusers ever slip up and say something hurtful to some advocacy group somewhere?
John 8:2-11
“And early in the morning He came again into the Temple and all the people came unto Him; and He sat down, and taught them.”
“And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto Him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the Law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest Thou?”
“This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him.”
“But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground.”
“And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.”
“When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?”
“She said, No man, Lord.”
“And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
