I began writing WFTD and sending it out to my employees a little over nine years ago. My website at WWW.wordsfortheday.org contains all that I could round up and the oldest one dates back to June 14th 2000. (I reposted it today below.)

Recently I printed them all out and they filled up a large cardboard box. My intent is to one day read through them all and select the best and put them together for a WFTD book. I think, (Lord willing), that I will wait until next year after a full ten years of writing WFTD has transpired before tackling that project.

A few of you have been faithfully reading it for almost a decade now and probably know me pretty well. Wow! Now that is a scary thought indeed I do want to thank my many readers, especially for your comments, both good and bad. My desire is to stimulate thought about our creator and to learn together how to deal with life by using the Bible as our guide. I’m sure that my understanding of the Bible will not always match yours, but I hope it is thought-provoking enough to at least stimulate making you think about God daily and to try always to understand His way of dealing with the joys, trials, tribulations, and victories of this short life.

Now just relax and take a look back a little over nine years ago and see what was on my mind on June 14th 2000

Many take pride in their house and maintain it in superb fashion, while others let theirs deteriorate and become an eyesore and a “rat-trap”. Most thinking people take very good care of their house. After all they must live in it. The Bible teaches that our body is our spiritual house. It also states that it is the temple of the Holy Spirit for Christians who are joined to God. The Holy Spirit actually lives within us and our body is His temple.

As with their homes, people vary widely as to how they take care of their bodies. Some have pride and keep them up; others let themselves go. Have you ever wondered about this? Why do some of us take very good care of our temple and house while others do not? Some let their bodies get run down, bombard it with excessive food and drink, let the sun blister its surface, risk disease by engaging in sexual immorality, take drugs that destroy it including alcohol, ignore exercise and sensible diets and so forth.

It takes some careful thought, setting some goals and a determination to do better, but most of all it requires EFFORT and SACRIFICE to keep your house in “tip-top” shape. Hence the reason I believe that many times we fail. In today’s culture, Americans in particular are not willing to forego their slightest desire, even if it ruins their health. It seems we aren’t willing to expend even the slightest amount of effort to maintain it, as would be required by exercising for just fifteen minutes, three days a week.

One of Jesus’ angriest moments that I have found recorded in the Bible was when the temple in Jerusalem was defiled and He ran the moneychangers out and turned over tables. This tells how He felt about His “Father’s house”. How do you suppose He feels when we violate and defile our human temple, the Holy Spirit’s house? The one He bought and paid for with His blood and sacrifice

————————————————-
1Corinthians 6:17…
But he who is joined to the Lord
is one spirit with Him.
Or do you not know that your
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit
who is in you?
For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body
and in your spirit, which are God’s.
