I once attended a church and the minister stated unequivocally that anyone who drank alcohol or smoked pot was going to Hell. I looked at my wife and told her, “Let’s get the heck out of here”, and we got up and left. Excuse me, but hasn’t this guy ever heard of Jesus Christ? I have read the Bible enough times to know that the message of the cross and Jesus Christ was not being espoused in that church. Fair enough that those are indeed sins, but Jesus died to forgive our sins including those. Further that preacher is just like every other man, woman, and child on the face of this planet and sins too. He might not drink alcohol or smoke pot, but rest assured that he commits sins like the rest of us and without the blood of Jesus covering those sins, he will go to Hell. The Bible states that whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord is saved. It does not add, “Unless he drinks alcohol or smokes pot”
I have always determined which church I attend in large part as to whether or not the pastor uses the unerring word of God, the Bible, as the foundation of the church and their ministry. I do not want them to add to the Bible or subtract from it. I try to find a church that is Bible believing and interprets the word of God, (which I have read numerous times and study daily), much the same as I do. If that does not happen, or the church preaches or teaches untruths, I will be out of there as fast as a mongoose.
Senator Obama just resigned from his church after twenty years. It is about time! I try to keep politics out of WFTD the best I can, and you can trust that this issue is not political, but spiritual. Consider Obama’s former pastor Rev. Wright who is supposedly a Christian pastor blaming the “United States” for the attacks on 9/11 because of its own acts of terrorism; entitling a sermon, “God Damn America”; accusing the United States of developing the HIV virus in a lab in order to introduce it to blacks; praising radical Nation of Islam leader and avowed racist Louis Farrakhan; making anti-Italian comments such as, “(Jesus’) enemies had their opinion about Him… The Italians for the most part looked down their garlic noses at the Galileans”; After calling Jesus’ crucifixion “a public lynching Italian style” executed in “Apartheid Rome,” he goes on to claim that white supremacists run the U.S. government, “The government runs everything from the White House to the schoolhouse, from the Capitol to the Klan, white supremacy is clearly in charge”; and on and on. The most recent attack on someone at that church was Hillary Clinton by their “distinguished” guest speaker Rev. Michael Pfleger who derisively mocked Clinton and was severely admonished by his own Bishop of his Catholic parish. Obama’s home church is nothing more than a place filled with hatred and racists who espouse radical nonsensical views and anti-United States unpatriotic sentiment. Why would any decent Christian attend such a church much less stay in it for twenty years?
So the questions in my mind are not only why did Obama stay in that racist hate filled church for over twenty years; why did he say that Rev. Wright is his spiritual advisor and close family friend? I would state that even if those are not his views, his judgment is not very good at the very least. After listening to sermons like that for twenty years, it is no small wonder that Senator Obama was one of the few senators who voted in favor of third trimester partial birth abortion. This horrible procedure partially delivers a baby until its head exits the womb and then a needle is inserted into the skull and the brains are sucked out. It is barbaric, murderous, black sin and if you are in favor of it, then shame on you!
The Bible cautions that we should test all things including spiritual leaders and that we will know them “by their fruits”. The fruit of this church is not sweet; it produces vile racial hatred of whites in particular and pretty much every nationality aside from African Americans. Listening to that garbage for year after year may partially explain in part Michelle Obama’s, comments. She stated, (thanks to her husband’s candidacy), that “for the first time”, that she was “really proud of [her country]”. She waited over forty years before she could say she was finally proud to be an American.
Why didn’t Obama look at his wife when that venomous inflammatory rhetoric was being spewed and tell her, “Let’s get the Heck out of here”? I applaud his, “better than never”, move to resign from that church, but, call me crazy, but I suspect it is simply a political maneuver to fend off further criticism and solidify his position ahead of an expected general election race against Republican nominee John McCain. Whatever.
My point is please do not just sit in church like a bump on a log during sermons. Listen to the preacher and test what he states against what the Bible states. If the pastor is twisting the truth and is marching to the beat of his own drum and not preaching the holy word of God, then find another church and don’t waste twenty some odd years in so doing. The Bible instructs us to do so
When you vote consider the character of the man and his spirituality. Remember the President will appoint judges to the Supreme Court and other federal judgeships that will affect things like innocent unborn children for decades to come. The press is eager to champion someone like Bill Clinton who lies whenever convenient and even stoops to having sex outside of his marriage in the Whitehouse with someone half his age. The press dismisses poor judgment and character as being vital and necessary essential elements of our country’s highest office, but don’t be deceived. Character and sound judgment are vitally important characteristics for the leader of the most powerful country on the face of the earth.
