Since being named Business Person of the year I have been besieged by requests from various people to know the secret’ of my business success. I tell them that it is actually a rather simple formula. It begins with attitude. Having a great winning attitude is the most important ingredient and success is probably impossible without it. Personally I think it would be exceedingly difficult to have a winning attitude and not have a close relationship with the Lord; more about that later. Second is work ethic. If you have a great attitude you will have a great work ethic. God gave us a clue as to His work ethic when He created the heavens and earth. He did not work a thirty or even a forty hour week, He worked six days and rested on the seventh. Many in our society do not understand that great things are not accomplished sitting on the couch drinking beer, but that hard work and sacrifice are entirely necessary. I personally think this is the singular biggest reason young people in particular fail. The final part of my formula is accomplishments. One can have a tremendous attitude and strong work ethic but not accomplish much of anything. An example might be some of the workers from third world countries. They smile their way through back-breaking endless work but make pennies a day. The answer to achieving accomplishments is to have a great attitude, work hard, but also work smart. If these same people would figure out more efficient ways to accomplish their tasks like Ford did with the assembly line they would succeed.

I put my goals in writing, identify what needs to be done, figure out what I consider to be the best plan of action, (assembly line thinking), work with reckless abandon to accomplish my plan and don’t take any prisoners’ until the mission has been accomplished. I also try my best to include God every step of the way as He is my number one priority. Which brings me to the point I promised I would talk about later, what is success anyway? Is it making millions or billions of dollars? Or is it giving it away as Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are doing?

The definition of success to me is finding true joy, peace, and happiness and that cannot be accomplished apart from Jesus Christ. Follow my formula and keep Christ as your number one priority and along the way the Lord will bless your works including perhaps your personal finance. Do not have the mistaken belief that money brings happiness or that it is the definition of success. Take it from me it is not. Many people have reached the point where they had great sums of money only to find that they were still alone and miserable, and many wonder if this is all there is to life. God is always missing in the life of anyone going through this. Money is just a tool to be used to glorify the Lord and spread the word of God. Yes I think the Lord rewards His good and faithful servants and one does not have to live like a monk in the desert wearing camel skins and eating locust honey. God richly rewarded Abraham, David and others, but they led their nation to love and worship God.

You can use my formula to success to accomplish great things for the Lord. Give it a try today! Use your winning attitude to identify some goals for Christ, work hard and smart to accomplish them and success will be yours

Gen. 2:2
..So on the seventh day
He rested from all His work,
And God blessed the seventh day and
made it holy.
