The outcome of the war is determined by you

I had a dream last night that made me break out in a cold sweat. I dreamed that I ordered a hit on one of our company’s most popular employees. Why I do not know. This person is well liked by me and from what I remember of the dream I really did not have any particular reason for this heinous act even in the dream. I was present when he was executed by decapitation. After his head was cut off I immediately began trying to figure out what to do with the body and what kind of lie I was going to tell the police when they questioned me. I awoke with a splitting headache, (which I still have).

I have no idea why I dreamed such a terrible dream. I do not watch television much, but when I do it is usually some gory CSI type show and I assume it came from one of them. I was thinking this morning how terrible it would be to be in a situation where such tremendous guilt was felt. When I awoke I was happy to discover that the horrible feeling that I was experiencing was after all just a dream. I got up and went to my Bible to read for a little while to calm down.

I have often felt that conscience is in effect the Holy Spirit of God who actually lives within us. The Bible teaches that two distinct entities are ‘warring’ within our bodies and souls. Satan wants your soul and so does God. I do not know about you but I personally hate disputes, especially bitter disputes. Most normal people want peace in their lives. Isn’t it amazing that such a battle rages within our very hearts, souls, and minds?

The Bible states that the wisdom of God is “first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy”. It further states, “The Spirit who lives within us yearns jealously”. Satan of course is the opposite. His way is not peaceable, it is not gentle, and it is rebellious, devoid of mercy, jealous of God, lustful for the very things that will destroy.

Winning this war for our souls will be determined by ‘our’ actions. If we submit to God and draw near to Him, satan cannot win; in fact he will run for his life and God will draw near to us. We need not experience fear, unhappiness, sorrow, and live an uneasy existence. God loves us and wants us to have lives devoid of earthly and demonic confusion. If today you are suffering from uneasiness, confusion, fear, sorrow, unhappiness, then understand that it is not coming from God. All that garbage comes from satan. Determine in your heart, mind, and soul to return to God the best you know how. Peace and happiness cannot be attained apart from Jesus Christ. Jesus stands and waits for you to ask Him into your life and draw near to Him. Jesus compared it to a mother hen wanting to draw her chicks under her wings to lovingly protect them. When Jesus draws near, He brings the genuine good things of life’ with Him. Satan hides lurking in the dark ready to tear apart anyone who strays too far from God’s protective light. Stay close to God and His live within His light…

James 4:7
