What is on your mind?

I am constantly amazed at how God uses people to do His bidding without even so much as speaking a syllable. I have personally experienced it for years while writing Words for the Day. Often someone will write to me and tell me that whatever I was writing about that particular day was just exactly what they needed to hear. I don’t plan out WFTD ahead of time, rather I just sit down each day and start writing about whatever comes to my mind. I truly feel God leads me to write about whatever I am writing about each day, (unless I get my flesh in the way of Him which I try not to do). I am overjoyed when God uses me to help someone, even if only to lift their spirits for a while and help them to fend off satan for a moment.

God uses His servants, (you and me), to help accomplish His purpose in a variety of ways. A buddy of mine recently was telling me that he had a similar experience not long ago. He was riding along with his preacher and suddenly out of the blue asked his preacher if he had ever thought about doing talk radio. The preacher stated that he had not and wondered why in the world he would ask such a question. My buddy said, “I don’t know”. Neither of them knew anything about talk radio, nor had they ever discussed talk radio, and it was a rather strange thing to bring up out of the blue. The comment did however get the preacher to thinking about it, and a day or two later came back to my friend and told him he was going to do it. Everything fell perfectly into place since that day and they have put together a tremendous talk show that is fabulously successful. This talk show is reaching incredible numbers of people for the Lord right and left and is considered an overnight success. My friend is humbled by the experience and very happy that God chose to use Him for such an incredible project. God told my friend to bring talk radio up to his preacher and He did so without uttering one audible sound. Now people are hearing about and coming to the Lord.

As I said it is amazing. Anyone who studies the Bible much at all will be aware of God’s gentle guidance as they go through God’s Holy Scripture. It happens to me almost daily. I search for a certain passage or an answer to an important question and I turn the page right to whatever it is that I need. Often when it happens, the hair stands up on my neck and spiritual goose bumps go up and down my spine. I can feel God’s holy presence guiding me along.

Not long ago I had someone grill’ me on how I could maintain such a strong faith. My thought was, “How can anyone not have faith in God?” To my way of thinking, it is near impossible not to have faith with so much evidence of God surrounding us. He is literally everywhere at all times. My guess is that those who have problems for whatever reasons are not really listening, watching, or feeling. God is there all right, but we must invite Him into our lives, join with other followers in church, and study His Holy word, the Bible. The Bible tells us that if we will seek, we will find. Then we must open our eyes, minds, and souls to His gentle presence.

That is God talking to you

Psalms 37:23
The steps of a good man are
ordered by the Lord,
And he delights in his way.
