Designer bodies

Have you ever heard anyone expressing that they wished that they had blue eyes instead of brown, brown vs. blue, taller vs. shorter, shorter vs. taller, heavier vs. lighter, lighter vs. heavier, blonde hair vs. black, black vs. blonde, etc.? Sure you have. Most people wistfully wish that they could be a little different. I always wished I could have been a very gifted musician. I can play guitar, but not like someone really gifted. The same is true with my artistic ability. Some like my art, but it is not really off the charts as I wish it was. This phenomenon can make one restless as the sea. I live by the ocean and am fascinated by its constant motion and restless nature. It is similar to some of us being restless about things over which we have no control.

Most humans are always looking over the fence wishing they were a little different. That is what makes plastic surgeons rich. I was on the plane the other day and the guy sitting next to me was really dressed well. I told him that was a really sharp looking suit and asked what kind it was. He proudly beamed that it was Armani and quickly flashed the label for me to see. This made me think how appropriate it might be for God to have put His label on us. Perhaps a nice tattoo looking affair that stated: Made in heaven by God Himself’; The world’s most renowned designer’. We could proudly wear our label as being designed by God.

If you ever get to wishing that you could be different, stop and think that you are designed by God and are exactly the image that is appropriate for you. If you are short, He likes you being short. If you are tall He wanted you to be tall. Thank God we are not all alike. How boring would that be? As God was pondering His design scheme for mankind, He could have easily made us all the same, but instead He made each of us unique. Our DNA is concocted to God’s exact specifications.

So relax and be happy with yourself just the way you are. That is not to say that we should gorge on food and blow up like a pig; nor should we stick our finger down our throat after eating in order to look like a Miami model on methamphetamine. Our body is a temple designed by God and the Holy Spirit resides in our body. Keep it in tip top shape for Him and be happy about your looks!
