One thing that holds many people back from coming to the point whereby they realize that if they are to be saved, they must accept Jesus, is that they seem to believe in the inherent “goodness” of God and they just do not see this image that they have of this “loving God” sending anyone to Hell. I have talked until blue in the face with numerous people of this mindset. It is totally contrary to the Bible. The Bible plainly states that the only way to reach the Father is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to this earth and sacrificed His life on the cross in order that we might be saved.
I was reading the Bible the other day and I came across a passage (Luke
10:18) that demonstrates something to me. It states: “And He said to them, ‘I saw satan fall like lightening from heaven’.” The Bible also states in Revelation that 1/3 of the angels of heaven went with satan when he was cast out of heaven by God. Now if a rational person were to think about it, satan was created higher than any other creature.
Undoubtedly if God would cast him out for his rebellion, He would cast out you or me. The Bible is full of examples of God’s wrath, not the least of which was Noah and the flood and Sodom and Gomorrah.
Make no mistake about it, God is a loving God, otherwise He would not have sent Jesus to undergo what He underwent in order that we might live. Keep in mind that He is holy and just and punishes sin. Accept Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for your sins and mine will satisfy God’s wrath against your sin. Reject Him and you will pay for your sins alone…forever!
