Forget about it already

The Bible teaches that we are to look forward not back to the past.
Everyone on this planet has done something that they regret. Some of us have a great deal in their past that they regret. I meet people all of the time that seem overwhelmed by some mistake that they made. Indeed I catch myself all of the time thinking about it. If you have accepted Jesus as your savior He has forgiven you for your misdeeds and sins. He paid the price and took your punishment and mine on the cross. So forget about it already. Why dwell on it? Forgive yourself as Jesus forgave you and reach forward to your new life with enthusiasm.
Throughout the Bible people sinned and God forgave them. Some of them committed terrible sins and then later lived exemplary lives for the Lord. King David committed adultery and then killed the husband of the woman with whom he committed adultery. God forgave him. Paul who ultimately became the greatest preacher who ever lived and literally gave his life for the Lord participated in putting Christians to death and persecuting them with a vengeance. God forgave him and he had this to say about it:

…but one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.
