God’s message

We were all born free. At least we all have a free will to choose to accept Jesus Christ and obey Him, or we can elect to reject Jesus Christ and reject His teachings. According to the Bible there can be no in-between. The Bible is very clear that one cannot reach the Father without going through the Son. The problem with some folks is that they do not base their faith in anything specific. Whereas I base my faith in the Bible as the Word of God and can look to it to tell me EXACTLY what to believe, others use “common sense” and logic. Logic is the nemesis of many. Logically some cannot believe in the virgin birth, walking on water, being raised from the dead, the Garden of Eden, and so forth. I do not have a problem with that. I believe that if God could create all of the universe as we know it, walking on water is small potatoes comparatively speaking. Without believing that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, it would be very difficult if not impossible to become a Christian..

If you are a Christian and have not read the Bible for yourself, you are, in part, basing your eternal destiny in what others tell you to believe. That is one reason I urge everyone to read the Bible for themselves. The Bible teaches that it is God’s Holy Word. It is God’s primary method of telling us what He wants us to do. Jesus referred to it throughout His ministry.

It is very interesting to see God’s prophecies actually playing out in these last days. Last night on the news it showed Saddam Hussein’s birthday celebration including coverage of him being given a gift of artwork of solid gold tanks and other military equipment invading Israel and approaching the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, (the site where God’s Holy temple will be rebuilt). The Bible teaches that in the last days armies will encircle Israel and all of the nations will try to destroy her. Iraq will undoubtedly be one of those countries. With God’s help they will be miraculously defeated and the Jews will rebuild the Temple where the Dome of the Rock currently stands and the antichrist will sit on the throne in the Temple and be worshipped by the world. It is quite interesting to see Biblical prophecies written hundreds and thousands of years ago actually being played out on TV today.

The Bible is there to teach us what to do in order to reach heaven but also for us to enjoy and to comfort us. If you are not currently reading it, there are many versions that are easy to understand and read such as the Living Bible. Why not try it today? Make an effort to read the entire Bible for yourself. Start with the New Testament, read it all of the way through, and then read the Old. I guarantee that you will never regret it. On the other hand, if you do not read it, I believe that you will regret it. Even if you make it all of the way to heaven, how embarrassing it would be to face God and explain why you would not take time to read His Holy Word, especially when you have read every Michael Caine thriller, (or whatever), ever written.
