Zig Ziglar wrote that one’s attitude determines their altitude. He hit the mark dead on! I have always preached that we should work hard to maintain a positive attitude. Hundreds of books have been written about this subject and thousands of others include chapters on it. Time and again I have seen employees and friends struggle with it and I have to admit there are times when I struggle with it. I believe that satan and his crew work hard to discourage us and we must combat it with every tool that we have.

I have an acquaintance that literally is cheerful ALL of the time. I asked for his secret and he said that when he looks at himself in the mirror every morning when he is shaving and he says out loud, today is going to be a good day and I’m going to have a good time today. He tells me that we have a “choice”, we can either be grumped up and an old sourpuss, or we can be happy and cheerful. He “chooses” to be happy and cheerful. He is not just cheerful and happy during good times, I saw this man endure serious medical problems and yet maintain a wonderful cheerful disposition through it all. It is uplifting just to be around him. Let’s all try it today!

The spirit of a man will sustain
him in sickness,
but who can bear a broken
spirit?
