My heart goes out to one of our employees whose mother is in a coma on life support with little chance of recovery. She is flying overseas to be by her Mother’s side and she will have much to think about and much sadness on the long flight. I think back to the time that I experienced the same thing with my own mother. Out of the blue one day I got a call from my dad and he told me that my mother had suddenly gone into a coma and there was no hope for recovery. I never got the opportunity to tell her that I loved her, or to tell her goodbye, or to ever see her alive again. She died of a brain tumor, but experienced no noticeable symptoms ahead of time. She had a bad headache one day and went to the doctor.
When she walked into the doctors office, she collapsed and went into a
coma and died shortly thereafter. I had not talked with her in a
couple of weeks. It is difficult to watch someone that you love slowly die of cancer or some other disease over a long period of time, but I believe that it is even more difficult to unexpectedly experience the sudden loss of someone who appears perfectly healthy and full of life.
I would have given anything to talk to my mother for just a few moments, but by the time my wife and I arrived from our long drive, she was gone.
There was no time to prepare myself mentally for her death. One minute she was alive and vibrant and the next she was gone.

As our employee travels to her mother’s side, she will need God’s steady hand to comfort her. I hope that you will join me in saying a prayer for her and her family right now. Only God can ease the pain and sorrow.
The Bible teaches that everything has its season including us. The seasons change, but God stays the same. He will never forsake those who love Him and He will be right by our side when we suffer and grieve.
Although the clouds are dark for this young lady today, the storm will, in time, subside and the sun will once again shine brightly. Riding out the storm with God by our side makes all the difference in the world.

I hope that you never experience anything like this. I experienced it twice, once with my mother and not too long ago with my only brother.
Tell those who you love that you love them at every opportunity, and talk to your loved ones often. The seasons can change quickly, sometimes without warning and with little or no time to prepare.

death,
I will fear no evil;
