Recently we had some former employees try to obtain a major loan by telling the lender, (in another state), that they still work at Horizon.
They obviously are not too smart, because most people would realize that a lender would call us and verify employment prior to lending money, particularly for a major loan. On the other hand we have had numerous calls from other lenders who are earnestly looking for these individuals. I guess they got away with “stiffing” a few businesses.
Man am I glad that they do not work here anymore. If we ever needed a confirmation that these employees were not worthy to work at our company, we are getting it now.

Once I had another employee try to convince me to let them continue to work but take them off the payroll and pay them in cash “under the table” until they could go bankrupt. They wanted this because the attorney told them that they made too much money to bankrupt, and the judge would likely set up a payment plan instead of relieving them of their debt. They needed their situation to look like they did not have any income in order to bankrupt and wipe out all of their debt. My question to this individual was, if you can afford to pay the money back, why not do the honorable thing, set up a payment plan, and pay it back? Why consider bankruptcy in the first place? The obvious answer is they want to cheat their creditors out of their money. I told this employee that I would have no part of such a scheme and in fact was insulted that they would even ask me to do such a thing. They will never ask me to participate in such a scheme again, that I can guarantee!

I cannot tolerate being around dishonest, lying people. Dishonesty and lying are two of the worst traits a person can have. How do these people sleep at night? Surely God will never bless them and they will not know peace. Perhaps that is the problem. They do not have a relationship with God anyway. I hope some day that they will wake up and realize that it is better to have fewer possessions and a clear conscience, than a big house, car and many possessions that were obtained through dishonesty. God will never let them enjoy any of it and they will be unhappy and never taste the joy of peace in their lives. If anyone is smart enough to believe in God. They should be smart enough to know that a righteous God will never let them enjoy ill-gotten gains and in fact will cut them off! Think about it!

Psalms 37:20
But the wicked shall perish;
And the enemies of the Lord,
like the splendor of the meadows
shall vanish.
Into smoke they shall vanish
away.
The wicked borrows and does
not repay.
But the righteous shows
mercy and gives.
For those blessed by Him shall
inherit the earth,
but those cursed by Him shall
be cut off.
