Is there anyone who doesn’t like a compliment? Well, me for one, if it is not sincere. If it is sincere, then I appreciate it, but I often am embarrassed by it. I really feel uncomfortable receiving compliments.
Most people want to be recognized for their accomplishments, but they don’t want to be pandered to, or “brown-nosed”. I’m perhaps the world’s worst at giving compliments. I don’t know why, but I guess that generally I feel that most folks already know if they have done something worthwhile. This is terrible logic and I strive daily to give more compliments and recognize worthwhile accomplishments whenever it is appropriate. I do not want to get into a syndrome whereby I offer constructive criticism regularly and compliments rarely.
Some folks cannot wait for someone else to compliment them, so they just do it themselves. Benjamin Franklin rightly said, “Well done is better than well said”. Just because someone isn’t showering you with compliments does not mean that your good job/works go unnoticed, so you do not need to take matters into your own hands. No one likes to hear someone who constantly brays and boasts about themselves and their accomplishments.
One thing is for sure, God is ALWAYS watching our every move, both good and bad and at a time of His choosing will reward/discipline us in a perfect and fair manner. That could be good, or it could be bad. I am very happy that Jesus already took my punishment for the bad things that I have done and continue to do in my life, and when I stand before my Creator, I will have Him at my side as my Friend and Advocate. How about you? Do you want to face God on your own? He knows EVERYTHING that you have ever done…

Man’s pride causes his humiliation,
but he who is humble of spirit obtains
honor.
