Well after 50 million dollars being spent, the big election in Georgia is over. Republican Karen Handel “handily” won the election. (I know-I know, that was bad.) She was outspent by about 10 million dollars of Democrat money which came from Hollywood and elsewhere in California and bastions of liberal strongholds throughout the country.

The loser, Ossoff, was the typical anti-Trump-uber-liberal Democrat candidate who was anti-everything-wholesome with an obsessive love for abortion. Republicans and President Trump are celebrating and Democrats are spinning it as though it was no big deal even though they poured obscene, record breaking, amounts of money into it, making it the most expensive campaign ever.

I’m happy whenever a rabid abortion supporter loses; however, with all due to respect to Candidate Ossoff and Handel, who thinks a single United States House of Representative seat is worth $50 million? They spent approximately $150 for each vote in the district. It’s astounding!

As I was contemplating this question this morning I was thinking about what $50 million would do for the Jesus Alliance and its campaign to Stop the Rape of Children for Profit, (Atlanta leads the nation in sex trafficking.) Or if that important project doesn’t move the folks who sent in the money, how about improving the schools in that district, or feeding the poor, or countless other worthy causes.

I wonder how Jesus views this enigma. I suspect it’s just another brick in the wall compared to all He sees.

The other day I posted some lyrics by legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix. A friend wrote and offered this:

“I was eating lunch years ago at a little pizza place on St. Simons Island; on the wall was a quote by Jimi Hendrix:

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”

Now there is something for us to ponder this morning . . .

1 Corinthians 13:13

“Three things will last forever – faith, hope, and love – and the greatest of these is love.”
